HISTORY AND LOCATION
SALLA ESTATE Winery was established in 2010. It is located in the village of Blaskovo, Municipality of Provadiya. The village finds itself in the heart of the famous Provadiya Plateau Sarta, only 60 km away from city of Varna. Nearby is the only naturally protected medieval fortress Muhaliysko Kale. In its sheer cliffs is carved the Rock monastery, dated XII – XIV century. While in the Drums Cave, inhabited since the Stone Age if you listen carefully, you can hear each blow sound like an echo of a drum.
During processing of the land before planting new vineyards in the region were found Greek and Roman coins from Moesia and Thrace, fragments from potery and ceramics, dated IV century BC to XIX century which are proof of the existence of a large wine market.
TEAM
Salla Estate winery was founded in 2010 by brothers Ivan Ivanov and Georgi Anastasov, who are still its owners by today. Both have a long career behind them in the banking and financial sectors, and upon retiring from which the idea of a small boutique winery cellar was born. Mr. Georgi Anastasov is also the founder of a large-scale agricultural business in the village of Blaskovo, which he continues to manage to this day.
Aneliya Hristakieva, one of the leading oenologists in Bulgaria, is the chief technologist of the winery since its establishment. Ms. Hristakieva graduated from the Institute of Food Industries in Plovdiv. She has over 20 years of experience in the most successful wineries in Bulgaria and numerous awards and medals won with the wines she creates. In 2018 she is among the three finalists nominated for oenologist of Bulgaria.
Agronomist-consultant for the cultivation of vineyards in Salla Estate is the Italian Francesco Fogolin. We are honored to place our vineyards in the hands of a professional of that high level and experience gained in wineries in areas with a centuries-old tradition in winemaking such as Italy, Romania and other European countries.
